Which Disney Park has the Least Walking?

If you’re going to Disney World, you WILL do lots of walking. That’s just a fact. However, some of Disney’s theme parks require less walking than others.

Park layouts and walking distances can change frequently due to new attractions, closures, and construction. As of the latest updates, Hollywood Studios generally requires the least walking, but always check for current park maps and news before your visit.

The size and layout are the main reasons. Let’s take a closer look at how much walking you’ll do at Disney World’s theme parks.

How Big are Walt Disney World’s Theme Parks?

As you probably know, Walt Disney World Resort has four theme parks: Magic Kingdom (the oldest and most iconic), Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom (the largest by area).

To determine which Disney theme park requires the least amount of walking and which requires the most, we should first analyze each park’s size and total number of walking paths. This data will give you some perspective on how the resort is laid out.

    Have you heard about ALL the walking you’re going to be doing at Disney World? Maybe you’re wondering how much to expect so you can properly plan. Or if the estimates (or perhaps you consider them “horror stories”) are true! Or to come up with a proactive pre-Disney movement regime to rise to the occasion. Whatever the reason, in this publish, I’m going to answer the question, “How much do you walk on average at Disney World?”

    How Much Does the Average Guest Walk at Disney

    After reading through some online forums, it looks like

    The average Walt Disney World guest walks 7-10 miles PER Evening during their vacation. For some guests, this is great – you want to get those steps in as your establish of vacation exercise (gotta serve off all those cupcake and turkey leg calories). But other guests, due to mobility issues or just plain exhaustion, desire to find opportunities to chop down on their walking. In many cases, using alternate transportation is slower than walking, but it will save some shoe leather. (Note: some forms of transportation may not be free during the COVID-19 era.)

    Here are nine of common long walks at Disney World and how to avoid them, if you want to:

    1. A lap around Epcot’s World Showcase

    • What’s the distance: About a mile
    • What can I do to avoid this?: There are Friendship Boats that cross the World Showcase lagoon between Canada and Morocco and between Mexico and Germany. Each direction cuts out about a third of the walk.

    2. From Disney’s Hollywood Studios to EPCOT’s International Gateway

    • Where is it: The DHS gate to the back entrance of EPCOT – a shared route for guests using Disney’s Park Hopper ticket feature.

      Preparing your body for Disney World will be vital to having an enjoyable trip. There needs to be preparation to ensure your body will be successful before your Disney World trip. Performing regular exercise, wearing proper attire and staying hydrated are the keys to preparing your body for the trip. We will discuss in further detail below each of these steps to aid in your Disney World trip.

      Steps in the Parks

      Everyone knows that when you go to Disney, you walk A LOT. But how much do you really walk when you are in the parks? Well, I did an experiment to see how many steps I really would get while visiting Disneyland® Resort AND Walt Disney World® Resort.

      The average American walks between 5,000 – 7,000 steps per diurnal. However, 10,000 steps per days is recommended by a number of activity researchers. This is the equivalent of approximately 5 miles per day per person. 10,000 steps a dayhas proven time and time again to be a good marker for being moderately active and achieving the minimum amount of physical activity recommended each day.

       

      My first trip was to Disneyland® Resort and we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. We walked to and from the parks through Downtown Disney. If you acquire ever been there and  stayed on property, you know that you do not need transportation. Everything is so close together that walking is the easiest option.

      Day 1: We flew across the country from Charleston, SC to Orange Country, CA. Shuttled to the Disneyland Hotel then off to the parks! We got the park hopper ticket, so we were able to go to Disneyland and Disney’s Californ
