AP World History Timeline (Units 1-6)
- The Tang and Song Dynasties are more known as "China's Golden Age". They had brought many things and ideas such as paper money becoming dominant, champa rice being mass produced, and gunpowder being used more. This Era, however, would eventually end when the Song Dynasty collapsed mainly because of constant invasions by the Jin Dynasty. The Dynasties were able to turn China into one of the most powerful areas in the world.
- During this period, the Abbasids were strong leaders who controlled a vast territory and created a culture that is often referred as the "Golden Age of Islam". The Abbasid Caliphate was a dynasty that had ruled over the Islamic Empire. The leader of the Abbasids was known as the "Caliph". During the time of the Abbasids, the caliph was typically the closest male relative of the previous Caliph.
- Feudalism was a work based structure that existed in Europe during the 900's. The system was created off of relationships deciding on how society as a whole worked. - After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, Europe was decentralized, so kingdoms came up on their own. Feudalism was the basis for each kingdom to have order. The serfs provide food and labor and pay taxes, the knights safeguard the lords, and the lords pay taxes to the king. The king gives land to the lords, the lords deliver pieces of land to the knights, and the knights safeguard the serfs. It was a simple government where one gives something to get something.
- After the decline of the Sui Dynasty due to the assassination of its leader; the Tang Dynasty was established. The Tang dynasty expanded conquering many Central Asian nomadic societies and establishing a tribute system which was a common practice for China even after the Tang dynasty was replaced with the Song dynasty in 960 AD. The dynasties re-established Confucianism as the main practice and made many academic achievements such as creating the world's first printing press.
