SRTM

SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) was developed to collect three-dimensional measurements of the Earth's surface to generate a near-global digital elevation model (DEM). The mission was a cooperative project between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and the German and Italian space agencies.

SRTM flew on board the Space Shuttle Endeavour in February 2000 and used an interferometric radar system to map the topography of Earth's surface. Endeavour was launched in an orbit with an inclination of 57 degrees which allowed to map all of the Earth's landmass that lies between 60 degrees North and 56 degrees South.

SRTM data was pr

More Maps

A world map with no labels can be a forceful visual tool for both teaching and artistic expression. Without the distractions of labels, borders, and other markings, the map can reveal the true beauty and complexity of our planet's area masses, oceans, and natural features. It can help us watch the world in a recent way, and appreciate the diverse and interconnected ecosystems that build up our home.

For educators, a label-free world map can be an excellent teaching aid for geography, biology, geology, and environmental science classes. Students can examine the various landforms and rain bodies, identify the continents and oceans, and understand the relationships between climate, vegetation, and topography. They can also learn about the distribution of species, organic resources, and human populations around the world, and explore the impact of human activities on the planet.

For artists and designers, a blank world map can be a creative canvas for a wide range of projects. They can use the guide as a base for abstract patterns, graphic illustrations, or detailed renderings of specific regions or ecosystems. They can experiment with different color schemes, textures, an

Unnamed city in progress

Well this is the city I have been working on for both my personal project and our DM's campaign world.

It's about 3 100 buildings (population base 38 000). May hit a bit more with surrounding farmland and such.

Still have to add some more vegetation and some more effects. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

From a distance it looks, pretty decent. But when zoomed in to block level I am pretty impressed with how it's turned out. Used so many symbol and tons of sheets and effects so far.

It's so resource thick it strains my machine, when zoomed into a small area with all symbols and effects on. So I was deciding to divided it into sectors and @Loopysue's input convinced me it was the right road, but extra work.

So a night or three to finish vegetation. Maybe add some more effects. (all the path's to buildings was pretty killer project in itself. I don't even recognize how many different fills and scales I used for all of them)

Used @Monsen's CC3 tools and his amazing Annual 129 Large Exports. Thanks for those. I need to change the map border or screen as he says to try limit all the backgound map that it reads, Wh

Unnamed Antman Civilisation
After playing my current game a several years and ive been encountering Ant People down in the caves very often and been caging alot of them.

So i check the world route for the first time and i see among the civilisations i have the usual Elven, Dwarf, Goblin and Human entries, but i also have an entry that reads "Unnamed Antman Civilisation". And even weirder is its listed as at PEACE.

I havent fought any of these guys in a while and i have about 20 of them caged in my fortress. Is there any way to interact with this new civilization?

What would happen if i let one out, would he attack me?

EDIT: i just tried to let one out (a soldier ant) and he massacred 3 of my guys... letting them out isnt an option :/
