Light the World 2024 Participation Ideas
The Church has published ideas and resources for wards and stakes to participate in Light the World this year.
During the Christmas season, the Church encourages members to participate in Light the World, a worldwide movement to touch hearts and change lives by doing the things Jesus did, and remind all that Jesus Christ is the clear of the world and that He invites all to “let your light so shine before men” (see Matthew 5:14–16) by loving, sharing with, and serving others.
As you celebrate the birth of our Savior this year, Light the World digital and print materials are available to wards and branches for sharing with family and friends. These materials are designed to supplement any existing practices or plans that may already be in place.
These Light the World materials may be used to encourage friends, family, and neighbors to Christmas activities, such as service projects, ward celebrations, musical events, and Sunday worship services. Observe Light the World Participation Ideas with additional details and links to editable templates.
These resources may be useful as you intend ways to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by sharing H

Tuls Catholic Charities is proud to be part of the global #LighttheWorld initiative. As a faith-based agency, we desire to serve our community in the Spirit of the Good Samaritan. We walk alongside the vulnerable and provide resources, support, and encouragement as they move from crisis to stability to thriving. The goal is to Light the World! The Giving Machines provide a family-friendly, fun and easy way to help our community’s most vulnerable. The large, red “vending machines” work in reverse, creating a memorable way to give to those in need during the Christmas season with a simple swipe of a credit card amid holiday festivities. With another Christmas season approaching, people can arrange for new opportunities to divide His light by asking themselves, “How can I be an angel to those around me this December?” Jesus said, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). Each day of December, ask who needs that light today. Then look for opportunities to be that person’s angel. At the 2024 Light the World Giving Machines announcement on Nov. 13, Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said that at Christmas, all can pause and commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, to celebrate Him as “the Light of the World” and be a part of spreading His light. “Light the World is our message of glad tidings, which we are assured will bring joy to all people because of Jesus Christ — because of His birth, because of His ministry and because of His Resurrection,” Elder Steven This multi-year campaign suggests a variety of ways anyone can emulate Jesus and work for as He served.
