Alt+number keybinds have stopped working

I use a number of keybinds with the Alt key as the modifier and they have been working fine until today. The alt key definitely works outside of the game (can alt tab etc.) and Alt+Z still works to cover the interface, but otherwise any keybind with the Alt modifier is ignored (can’t rebind anything to alt+number and existing binds don’t register). Any idea how to fix this?

EDIT: issue is happening on Classic, not sure if the same true for Retail

Assuming your Hotkeys are still set up properly, this generally happens if something else is set up to use those hotkeys, like overlay software for example, and it’s stealing the inputs entirely

What you can do to narrow down the cause is to adjacent background applications and start things up a couple at a time until you narrow down what exactly is causing it

Hm, it’s suddenly working again today. Very odd considering I haven’t installed any new applications recently. Thanks for the answer, I’ll try it if the issue comes up again.

Hi.
First post, and already complaining
But as a new player it`s very complicated to find names to my chars.
Almost everything is taken,and one almost want to provide up on the start screen.
I wonder if Blizzard might have considered to add last names or something,so more than one person can have the same name on the server. I had to resort to those name generators,because i sprint out of alernatives.
So unless i want to name my next char “poirbnmoim123”, which probaly is taken to , i think i will have a little trouble making more alts.
Rant over.
Great game btw.

They need to add ’ in names too.

Swtor has a much smaller playerbase yet the naming on that is much more versatile, I just don’t obtain it.

My favorite is people using alt codes on common names so you see all of them at one point. Like Paws. I have that name but I’ve seen roughly 3 versions of it so far because of alt codes.

Ehhh. IMO it’s not in their favor and I’ll have a hard time reaching out to them, so I often won’t, but otherwise I don’t care much. I personally have done the weird spelling thing a few times: got a couple alts that I had to deviate from the standard spelling for.

Z is for Zeirah

The faction convert went really smoothly. I couldn’t get Zeera so I place a dumb symbol à (alt + 0224) at the close but then realised I could have got Zeerah so I’ll consider doing a name adjust in a bit.

I remembered to copy my WTF folder and just dragged and dropped the files from Barthilas-Zeera to Frostmourne-Zeerà, and along with most of my addons having profiles saved, setting my new toon endorse up was really easy.

I did lose the Tell Me When settings I had for Troll Zee but they were effortless enough to set up for Nelf Zee. Now I’m using Weak Aura’s more, I’ll fetch around to replacing the Reveal Me When’s with WA, especially as I noticed my WA’s came across with no issues.

My Macro’s didn’t auto populate even with making sure I copied the old file across but I found a really cooperative console command on Wowhead that stops the server constantly syncing temporarily which can help your macros to stick for whatever reason. You type

into your chat box and logout then locate your Macros file:

and copy it from your old character to your new character’s file and log back into the game and all your gen

How do you type special characters?

Here's How:
Each special character is assigned to a number sequence. But they have to be keyed while you hold the alt key down.

Alt-156 will get you £.
Alt-21 will get you §.

So holding Alt down with my left hand, I type in the number sequence on the number pad with my right. Once I lift up the alt key (after finishing the number sequence) the special ethics appears. I have tested this in World of Warcraft on my PC. I am not sure if this works on a Mac.

Numlock: If you own any problems, make sure your numlock key is on. For those who still have autorun bound to numlock and that suddenly starts you running just hit "w" or "s" to stop you while keeping numlock on. Then, when this is all said and done, remap autorun to Mouse Button 4 (you know the little one on the side by your thumb), if you have it, and thank me in the morning.
