Europe has taken over our country. They came seeking west African peanuts, timber, rubber, and palm oil. Also when diamonds were discovered in 1867, thousands of Europeans came to Africa to make their fortunes. mass production of goods and the different varieties of fuel needed to power machinery resulted in a depletion of Europe's raw materials and natural resources. Africa created a new place for Europeans to sell their goods.

Social Darwinist used Charles Darwin's theory of evolution through instinctive selection to justify their racism and imperialism. They claimed that the advanced technology and wealth of European countries proved their racial superiority  over African societies. Social Darwinist also believed that they were helping Africa by colonizing Africa and spreading Western technology and ideas.

It destroyed the continent's traditional social, economic, political, and cultural structures. Disease, starvation, and brutality decimated African populations. It created economic dependence on industrialized nations and institutionalized national and international racism against Africa

“The plunderers of the society, they have laid waste to the land till there is no more left, and now they scour the sea. If a people are rich they are worth robbing, if penniless they are worth enslaving; and not the East nor the West can content their hungry maw. They are the only men in all the nature whose lust of conquest makes them find in wealth and in poverty equally tempting baits. To robbery, murder, and outrage they give the lying specify of government, and where they make a desert they name it peace.” —The native Scottish rebel Galgacus, speaking of the Romans, as quoted by the Roman historian Tacitus (56–120)”
